Other than that, I'm a third year Education Student at the University of Lethbridge, majoring in Social Studies. Because let's face it, politics and history are pretty awesome.

Last week I did the worst of the decade, so it only seems fitting that this week, I talk about the best. I’ve come across many lists of the best of the decade, but this one by ABC is my favourite thus far. They cover the top ten of the decade. I’ll just hit on the ones I like.
8. iPhone - What? Only 8th? Its as if this list is run by witches. I guess this makes sense because the iPhone made its debut late in the decade. If it had a head start, it would probably be on top.
7. USB Sticks - Sometimes, its the simple pleasures in life that make such a big difference. I remember when I first got a USB stick. It was expensive, and it was pretty awesome, especially considering before that we had to use crap like floppy discs. (Interesting note: My 12 year old niece doesn’t know what a floppy disc is. I feel old).
6. Nintendo Wii - My 61 year old mother bought a Wii very qucikly after it came out, which should speak to how inclusive this thing is. And I must say, I love it. Two years ago for my birthday, my boyfriend got me Mario Kart Wii (Match made in heaven, I tell you.) and since then, there have been many Kart tournaments in my family.

Some poeple tell me that the Wii isn’t for “serious” gamers because the Wii-mote isn’t a controller than you need a Masters Degree to understand, but that’s just why I like it. I’m not a gamer. I’m just someone who loves to pw3n at Mario Kart (pw3n….is that something? :) )
4. Digital Cameras - I feel this particular item deserves a pro - con list. Pro: Everyone’s a photographer now. Con: EVERYONE’S a photographer now. I can’t be the only one who cannot stand all the mundane facebook albums of sunsets, or interesting clouds, or that pretty tree. Yeah, I get it - you know how to work a camera. I appreciate the beauty of nature as much as the next person, but unless you’re one of the three people on my friends lists who actually takes interesting pictures (and you’re probably not), I don’t care how pretty the tree is.
2. GPS - I love GPS. What I love even more is naming the GPS. Mine is named Ginger, or Gingy. Gingy gets cursed at a lot when she tells me to U-turn. Or that one time, instead of taking me to the Calgary Zoo like I wanted, she took me to some wildlife office. Close, but no dice Gingy.
1. iPod - Confession time: I can be the world’s most anti-social person. When I walk down the hallway at the Uni, I love that my iPod helps me ignore people. Its like once you see those white ear buds, you know no conversation is going to happen. And that can be beautiful.
In all honesty though, I love my iPod. I had the classic for a long time, but when the touch came out, I couldn’t help myself. I got the touch and it changed my life. Now during classes, I check hockey scores, or read news headlines, or check facebook and twitter. Its come so far from just music. And that’s why I completely agree that the iPod is the best gadget of the decade.
